A Rueful Noise is a Lansing, Michigan indie rock trio featuring Jennifer Toms on bass and vocals, Nicholas Merz on guitar and vocals, and Todd Karinen on drums. The band combines elements of grunge, psychedelia, punk, and new wave into what local press describes as a "dark and gothic" sound. They have released two records on GTG Records and Silver Maple Kill Records: the 2022 EP "Let the Revels Begin" and 2024's full-length "The Ashen Glow."
