Dinosaur Jr.

Dinosaur Jr. is an alternative rock band from Amherst, Massachusetts, formed in 1984. After three albums on independent labels including SST Records, the band earned recognition as a formative influence on American alternative rock and the grunge movement. Their signature sound combines heavy guitar distortion and feedback with melodic hooks, characterized by J Mascis's distinctive guitar work and drawling vocals. The band signed to major labels in the early 1990s, disbanded in 1997, and reformed with their original lineup in 2005.
