MC5 was a proto-punk band from Lincoln Park that helped invent punk rock with their explosive live performances and anti-establishment sound. Their 1969 debut album "Kick Out the Jams" became a foundational punk anthem covered by countless artists, earning them a Rolling Stone cover and recognition from VH1 as one of the greatest hard rock artists of all time. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024 and released their final album "Heavy Lifting" the same year.
