Nana Grizol
From Athens, Georgia
Nana Grizol is an Athens, Georgia indie folk band formed in 2007 by Theo Hilton — formerly of Defiance, Ohio, the Columbus punk collective — that blends folk punk energy with psychedelic pop instrumentation including brass, winds, and piano. Signed to Orange Twin Records, the band draws from Athens' Elephant 6 orbit, with members Laura Carter (Elf Power) and Robbie Cucchiaro (The Music Tapes) both having performed with Neutral Milk Hotel. Their lyrics address themes of queer identity, anti-capitalism, and Southern experiences, with releases including 2008's Love It Love It, 2010's Ruth, and 2020's South Somewhere Else.
