The Queers
Pop Punk
From Portsmouth, New Hampshire
The Queers are a punk rock band from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, formed in 1982 by Joe King (Joe Queer), who has remained the sole constant member through numerous lineup changes. The band plays fast, Ramones-influenced punk rock with deliberately provocative and juvenile lyrics, releasing their debut album Grow Up in 1990 on Shakin' Street Records before signing with Lookout! Records for 1993's Love Songs for the Retarded, which expanded their following to international proportions. They have continued releasing albums regularly through labels including Hopeless Records and Asian Man Records, maintaining their irreverent approach to punk rock for over four decades.
