Thomas Dolby
Synth-Pop
From London, England
Thomas Dolby is an English synth-pop pioneer who became an unlikely MTV icon in the early 1980s with his mad scientist persona and infectious electronic hooks. His 1982 breakthrough 'She Blinded Me with Science' reached number five in the US and helped define the video age, while 1984's 'Hyperactive!' became his biggest UK hit at number 17. His landmark debut album 'The Golden Age of Wireless' peaked at number 13 in both the UK and US. Beyond his solo success, Dolby established himself as a sought-after session musician and producer, contributing the memorable keyboard line to Foreigner's 'Waiting for a Girl Like You' and producing albums for Joni Mitchell, Prefab Sprout, and George Clinton.
