Grand Rapids quintet Phabies blends sophisticated indie rock with folk and pop influences, fronted by multi-disciplinary artist Laura Hobson. The band won Video of the Year at the 2024 Michigan Music Video Awards for "Pink Christmas Tree" and took home both album and artist of the year at the 2026 Jammies. Their sophomore album "The Curse of Caring" (2025) was mixed by Adrian Olsen (Foxygen, Fruit Bats), Jeremy Ferguson (Cage the Elephant), and Sean Sullivan (Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers), exploring themes of environmental and human care through what critics describe as "weightless pop-rock with sunny guitar lines."
