Neighborhood pub on East Michigan Avenue, open since 1979 — "Mort's" to the locals. Two halves to the room: a small stage and dining area on one side, a wall of dartboards and booths on the other. Jazz Tuesdays with Jeff Shoup's rotating house band and an open jam session after. Jen Sygit hosts open mic on Wednesdays. Live bands on weekends, no cover. The kind of place where a 57-year-old and a 22-year-old end up on adjacent barstools and neither one feels out of place.
